The Xbox 360 legacy also upped the game with access to such platforms as Netflix, TV, and video streaming, adding an entirely new dimension that took gaming consoles out of the shadowy, dusty areas at the bottom of our entertainment centers and shined a light on them, giving families a new incentive to add a gaming console. Finally, gamers could communicate and play with other gamers. Xbox Live became a thriving gamer's hub around the same time that more and more households had access to fast-speed broadband internet. The fact is, if it wasn't for Xbox 360, gaming would not be what it is today, especially when it comes to online and multiplayer gaming. Thanks to this feature, today's gamers are still playing some of the most popular and iconic Xbox 360 games, even though the old consoles are now considered something of a relic in the gaming world. Microsoft announced that Xbox was adding backwards compatibility for over 100 games. When Xbox One was released, fans of the Xbox 360 were relieved to find that they could still use their best Xbox 360 Games and didn't have to leave them behind when they upgraded to the newer model. Xbox 360 was quite literally a game-changer in the world of gaming, forever altering what we expect out of our video game platforms.
While Microsoft stopped producing its decade-old Xbox 360 console in 2016, fans of the iconic console are still devoted and still pulling out some of their best Xbox 360 games or buying new ones to catch up on classics that they might have missed.
